Camp Mojo

Camp Mojo was a blast. 

I recently returned from a few days at scrapbooking retreat called Camp Mojo. When I booked this retreat I was in desperate need of a break and to touch base with Lauren the person again. Lauren the mother, Lauren the employee and Lauren everything else was completely exhausted. 

As the date drew near I suddenly realised that I had just booked to go on a retreat BY MYSELF! I began to think OMG... nerves set in, brave face was put on and I was on my way. 

From the moment I pulled up I was greeted with smiling happy faces, people were happy to chat and share moments and creative techniques. I was super lucky to do two Louise Nelson classes, which absolutley blew me away. Not only is she creatively out of this world she is humble. 

Here I am on the way. I can see the Lauren sparkle coming back in this photo.

Collaborate for a cause

Now this is cool! A super doopa couple of ladies put together a facebook auction that raises money for fantastic causes. I watched this amazing event last year and my jaw dropped at the amount of support wonderful facebook users gave to fantastic causes. 

Heres the run down.. there are heaps and I mean HEAPS of handmade facebook pages out there all creating beautiful items. You get together with a few and select a fabric or theme and all create indiviual pieces. These are then put together as a collaboration and you may pick the charity of your choice. It along with a couple of hundred other collabrations goes up on the collaboration for a cause facebook page and on weekend 26-28th of July you can bid on the collaboration. 

I was lucky enough to be asked by an amazing group to join a collaboration this year. Here is what we came up with..

Here is my contribution. This shadow box frame is made with 95% fabric. I joined up with my beautiful and talented friend Kathy from Rare Thread to create this. Many laughs, lollies and late night pizza was had to create this masterpiece.

My Mother

Flicking through my photos I came across this beautiful photo of my Mother on her honeymoon. Having just celebrated my 2nd wedding anniversary I reflected on my mothers life and what it may have been at that time, and the journey from that point that was to come. Today their are 5 educated, happy, loving daughters, 11 cheeky grandchildren and an abundance of love, support and wisdom. My amazing Mother, still happily married to the man (my super cool Dad) she married over 40yrs ago, still vibrant, supportive and has a thirst for knowledge and education. My hope is that in 40yrs I can sit and see similar reflection of an amazing life.

Flew the Coop...

Howdi strangers! 

Yes, I know...Its been a while. My creative mojo flew the coop but now its back! 

I think every creative person needs a sabbatical on occasion. 

Anyway, I was flicking through Facebook last night and saw the latest Jot Magazine mood board challenge. Well that was it, put the kids to bed and told my husband he was free to watch any 'boy' movie he desired. 

Everyone was happy including me!
